The Kwoiek Creek Hydroelectric Project is a 49.9 MW, run-of-river hydroelectric project (HEP) located on the lower reaches of Kwoiek Creek. Kwoiek Creek flows in the Fraser River approximately 14 km south of Lytton, British Columbia. EDS delivers the Independent Environmental Monitoring (IEM) service (ongoing) to Innergex Renewable Energy Inc., and has been doing so since June 2011.
The Project includes a water diversion and intake facilities, a buried penstock and a powerhouse located on Kanaka Bar Indian Band’s Whyeek IR No. 4, near Kanaka Bar. The Project will also include approximately 80 km of 138-kV transmission line to transmit electricity generated by the Project to the BC Hydro grid via the Highland Valley Substation. Completion of the Project is anticipated for the fall of 2013.
